Actress Kate Beckinsale and Saturday Night Live's Pete Davidson's apparent relationship appears to be going strong, as they've been seen kissing in public, but is their romance meant to last? According to Beckinsale's ex-boyfriend, it might actually be best for everyone involved if Davidson just splits.

On March 4th, 2019, TMZ spoke with Beckinsale's ex Matt Rife outside of the Los Angeles Laugh Factory, and the comedian had some choice words for Davidson. When asked if he had any advice to give the SNL star, Rife said,

"Man to man? Run. Enjoy it. Enjoy it while you can… I don't really have any solid advice. Just be careful."

Uh oh!

Sounds like Beckinsale and Rife didn't split on the greatest of terms. Rife told TMZ that their year-long relationship back in 2017 had been complicated. Rife, who was 21 to Beckinsale's 43 when they started dating, shared that there'd been, quote, "a lot of ups and downs."

Still, Rife hoped for the best for the new couple. The Wild 'N Out and TRL star said,

"I hope they're both happy. I hope it can build to where it's an established, good relationship."

But don't think that Rife wants Davidson to break up with Beckinsale so that he can get back together with her. When TMZ asked Rife if he'd ever start a relationship with Beckinsale again, he said,

"No. Absolutely not. No, not a chance."

Us Weekly reports that Beckinsale and Rife got together after her November 2015 divorce from director Len Wiseman, to whom she was married for 11 years. At the time, Entertainment Tonight noted that Beckinsale and Rife had connected through a mutual friend. According to Us Weekly, they were last spotted together in public in September 2018.

Kate Beckinsale and Pete Davidson's romance may have first started in January 2019, as also reported by Us Weekly. The two first took an interest in each other at Golden Globes after-parties, and, by the next month, they were making their first public appearance for a possible date night in Los Angeles. They were later spotted making out at a Rangers game in March.

Regarding Beckinsale and Davidson's budding relationship, a source told E! News,

"Kate has spent some time with him and thinks he's very funny and charming."

Another insider revealed,

"He always has her laughing and that's a good feeling to have… They talk a lot and never run out of things to say."

Hopefully everything between Beckinsale and Davidson works out, we doubt Davidson would appreciate having any more relationship drama after his failed engagement to pop star Ariana Grande.

Davidson and Grande famously got engaged in June 2018 after just weeks of dating. But it wouldn't be long before they called it quits, as they split up by that October. Though it's not immediately clear just why Davidson and Grande's romance didn't last, their breakup reportedly may have been influenced by Davidson's crass jokes and Grande's heartbreak after her former longtime boyfriend Mac Miller passed away.

Following their split, there appeared to be bad blood between them, with Grande getting upset at an SNL promo in which Davidson joked about getting engaged…

… and Grande releasing the song "Thank U, Next" that mentioned Davidson by name. Davidson was reportedly "sad" after the single's release, according to E! News.

So what does Grande think of her ex's new relationship? She's supportive, at least on the surface, telling TMZ in early February 2019 that she thought Davidson and Beckinsale were, quote, "so cute" together.
