This is session 14 of Technology-enabled Blitzscaling, a Stanford University class taught by Reid Hoffman, John Lilly, Allen Blue, and Chris Yeh. This class features Chris Yeh interviewing Elizabeth Holmes, the Founder and CEO of Theranos.

Since her visit to the class, both company and entrepreneur have received sharp criticism for alleged fraud. In an SEC settlement in 2018, Holmes paid a $500,000 fine and relinquished control of the company, though neither she nor the company admitted or denied the SEC's allegations. Holmes has also been indicted on federal wire fraud charges.

Due to these developments, some have suggested taking down this video. We disagree. In this new context, this video can be a valuable teaching tool on the dangers of unethical and irresponsible behavior.

To supplement this video, we recommend that you read Reid Hoffman’s essay on the unethical behavior at Theranos: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/theranos-blitzscaling-blitzfailing-blitzfrauding-reid-hoffman/
